AFLIT Digital Library Platform

AFLIT (African Literacy, Identity & Tradition) is a digital archiving platform dedicated to preserving Malawi’s cultural, academic, religious, and governmental heritage. Designed as a modern knowledge hub, AFLIT empowers universities, churches, government institutions, and community groups to create, manage, and share digital libraries. With more than 779 preserved documents and 13 community libraries already active, the platform serves as a growing national archive and an accessible resource for researchers, students, policymakers, and the general public. The platform shines through its simple, user-friendly interface. Users can search across documents, audio, and video files, browse featured libraries, and explore categories such as academia, culture, religion, governance, and oral histories. Libraries like Baptist College, Nkhoma University, and Parliament Acts collections highlight AFLIT’s diverse use cases — from academic research to civic education and cultural preservation. AFLIT also focuses heavily on community empowerment. Any organization can start a digital library, upload documents, and contribute to preserving local knowledge. Its borrowing system, document statistics, and active-user tracking help communities stay engaged and informed.
