Cockpit is a web-based graphical interface for administering Linux servers. It allows system administrators to manage storage, configure networks, inspect logs, and manage containers and virtual machines through a web browser.
Cockpit is an open-source, web-based graphical interface for Linux server administration, sponsored by Red Hat. It is designed for a wide range of users, from those new to Linux to experienced administrators. The tool provides a discoverable interface for managing system tasks like storage, networking, containers, and virtual machines directly from a web browser. Cockpit uses existing system APIs and does not add its own layer of tooling, allowing administrators to use command-line tools and Cockpit interchangeably. It runs on-demand via systemd socket activation, consuming no resources when not in use. The software is free, open-source, and available for major Linux distributions. It does not have published pricing plans as it is free software.
