H5P

H5P is an open, web-first authoring framework that lets educators and instructional designers create, share and reuse rich interactive HTML5 content directly in the browser. At its core H5P provides dozens of community-driven content types — from interactive video and presentations to quizzes, branching scenarios and 360° tours — and ships both as a free open-source distribution and as a managed service (H5P.com) for institutions that want hosting, reporting and LMS integrations. The user interface is deliberately lightweight and author-focused: content creation happens in a single page editor where authors choose a content type, fill fields or upload assets, and instantly preview results. That simplicity lowers the barrier for subject-matter experts (no programming required) while still exposing enough parameters for instructional design decisions. Because H5P content runs in the browser, learner-facing experiences are responsive and consistent across devices, though advanced layout control depends on the host site’s theme. (No heavy authoring tool UI to learn — you mostly add content and configure options.) Functionality is H5P’s strongest selling point.
