An interactive map and educational resource for learning about Indigenous territories, languages, and treaties. It aims to improve awareness of Indigenous history and geography. The platform is provided by a Canadian non-profit organization.
Native Land Digital is a nonprofit educational mapping platform that helps users explore Indigenous territories, treaties, languages, place names and community-led initiatives around the world. Its primary purpose is to improve awareness of Indigenous peoples’ relationships with their ancestral lands and waters, challenge colonial perspectives of geography and history, and encourage respectful land acknowledgments. Its main products include the Native Land Map, which allows users to search Indigenous territories, treaties and languages; the Constellation Map, which focuses on relationships between Indigenous peoples; the Placenames Map, which documents Indigenous place names; and the Reciprocity Map, which highlights activities taking place within Indigenous nations. Other features include an interactive location search, downloadable GeoJSON map data, a free API, research references, educational resources, community contributions and the Kōrero land and water acknowledgment guide.
