Payap

Payap is a New Zealand-focused digital wallet and point-of-sale solution powered by Centrapay and backed by the Bank of New Zealand (BNZ). Designed to modernize the payment landscape, it utilizes open banking to allow consumers to pay directly from their bank accounts via QR codes, bypassing traditional card networks. For consumers, the app serves as a unified digital wallet that aggregates bank accounts, loyalty cards, and gift cards, while offering features like spending limits and receipt tracking. For businesses, Payap provides a cost-effective alternative to traditional merchant services, with low acceptance fees and seamless integration with existing EFTPOS terminals and e-commerce platforms. While core payment and loyalty features were available at launch, the platform has progressively rolled out additional capabilities such as peer-to-peer payments. It is currently available exclusively for New Zealand bank accounts and requires a compatible mobile device.
