PDFix Desktop Lite is a free PDF reader and accessibility checker for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It validates PDFs against PDF/UA, WCAG, and Section 508 standards using the built-in veraPDF engine.
PDFix Desktop Lite is a free tool for validating PDF accessibility on Windows, macOS, and Linux. It functions as a PDF reader and a powerful accessibility checker, using the industry-supported veraPDF engine to validate against standards like PDF/UA, WCAG 2.2, Section 508, and the European Accessibility Act. A key feature is its 100% local processing, which ensures document privacy. The Lite version is permanently free and allows for validation, error navigation, and exporting compliance reports without watermarks. While it includes all the remediation tools of the Pro version, such as AI-powered auto-tagging and manual tag editing, saving a fixed PDF will add a watermark. To save a clean, compliant document, users must upgrade to PDFix Desktop Pro. The software supports batch validation for entire folders. It is aimed at accessibility specialists, compliance teams, and organizations in government and education needing to meet accessibility mandates.
