Passio's Navigator solution is designed to foster efficient, proactive, and safe transit operations by integrating essential fleet visibility with driver communications. The system’s core purpose is two-fold: providing operators with Computer Aided Dispatch tools for safely running routes, including direct two-way communication with central dispatch; and using Automatic Vehicle Location to track and record vehicle positions in real time. This combined approach is supported by a comprehensive real-time communications system featuring headway spacing, on-time alerts, emergency notifications, and re-routing detour capability, ensuring central operations has the necessary visibility and control to maintain high-quality service delivery. The deployment model utilizes the Passio MDT, an Android-based, rugged, and touchscreen Mobile Data Terminal which serves as the central on-vehicle interface. This single-connection device is modular and swappable, natively integrating with various onboard components such as Automatic Passenger Counters (APCs), destination signs, backup cameras, and ECU data via protocols like J1708/1939 and CAN. Connectivity is robust, relying on GPS and Cellular technology for real-time data transmission.
