XCharge (Legacy Payment Software)

XCharge is a legacy integrated payment processing software originally developed by OpenEdge (a division of Global Payments). It was designed to allow businesses to process credit, debit, and check transactions directly within their existing point-of-sale (POS) or practice management software. While it provided robust features like EMV compliance, tokenization, and real-time reporting, Global Payments Integrated has officially discontinued XCharge for new installations. Existing users can continue to operate their current installations, but the vendor now mandates the use of its successor, EdgeExpress, for all new deployments and cloud-based integrations. Buyers should be aware that XCharge is no longer actively supported for new business and is being phased out across the Global Payments ecosystem.
